Sažetak
The aim of the study was to examine the relation between delinquent involvement and value systems among juveniles. Five groups of male youths differing in self-reported and official delinquent status participated in the study (N=1039). They assesed importance of a number of values related to work, leisure, and psychophysical and social integrity. Factor analysis of 99 items yielded 21 first-order value orientations and 5 second-order factors. These factors were named individualism, hedonism-utilitarism, social interaction, fruitful life and self-growth. Data indicated that there is a relation between MASLOW's hierarchy of needs and second-order factors ; groups with different delinquent status attribute different importance to certain value orientations ; more serious delinquents ascribe more importance to orientations that correspond to needs that are lower in the hierarchy.
