Sažetak
About 30 endemic species and subspecies of fish live in rivers of the Adriatic basin. Most of them fall into category of threatened fish (IUCN 1980). The Adriatic rivers are very short but steep and are suitable for hydroelectric generating stations ; a number of these have been built, causing major changes to habitats of native species of fish. This may have serious consequences as th ichzhyofauna of each river is relatively specific.
