Sažetak
One of the most important molecules – metal interactions is a spontaneous self-assembling of atoms and molecules on metal’ s surface. The corrosion protection of the copper by modifying its surface with the self-assembled layer of alkanethiol has been investigated in this work. Formation of self-assembled monolayer of 1-dodecanethiol was performed during the copper electrode immersion in the alcoholic solution of 1-dodecanethiol during periods of six and ten hours. Study performed using the surface in-situ measuring techniques (cyclic voltammetry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and electrochemical microscopy) and ex situ measuring techniques (contact angle, scanning electron microscopy and confocal laser microscopy) confirmed the successful formation of the nanostructured self-assembled monolayer of 1-dodecanethiol on the Cu surface. The corrosion behaviour of the modified and unmodified surface of the copper electrode was investigated using electrochemical techniques and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. It was found that the self-assembled monolayer of 1-dodecanethiol excellently inhibited (99.93 %) the cooper corrosion in an acetate buffer, pH = 6.
