Sažetak
The investigation of planktonic copepods encompassed almost the entire Adriatic sea, with exception of its narrow western coastal belt. During four seasonal cruises 144 species were registered or 64% of the total number of Adriatic copepods fauna. All know Adriatic species, with their synonymy, have been compiled, as well as locality data for the records. For the quantitatively important species, annual, multiannual changes in the numerical abundance, seasonal changes of vertical distribution have also been presented. On the basis of spatial variations in the abundance of the dominant species, three characteristic communities can be defined. It can be assumed that the increased bioproductivity in the Central Adriatic is caused by nutrient enrichment derived from relatively richer Adriatic sources.
