Sažetak
This paper focuses on the development of an algorithm to calculate the power transfer limits and loadability of power system, in terms of megawatt, taking account of voltage stability, that could be used in operational planning of large power systems. The algorithm is based on a continuation power flow which overcomes notorious numerical difficulties associated with the singularities of Jacobi matrix, an iterative procedure to determine the closest voltage collapse point, and application of the modal analysis technique as a tool to identify weak buses and critical transmission lines. The continuation power flow traces power system steady state behavior due to load and generation variations. The critical loading pattern is determined by the iterative procedure. A transfer limit table and loadability of the weak buses is generated following the finding of the closest voltage collapse point by application of the modal analysis technique, i.e. bus and line participation factors based on the technique. The developed algorithm was applied to a practical system, i.e. Bosnian Electric Power Utility System. The obtained results and performances of the algorithm were discussed in the paper.
