Sažetak
U članku se ispituje teza Manfreda Tafurija o apsolutnoj autonomiji arhitektonskog jezika, o nemoći i tišini suvremene arhitekture, zapletene u neproduktivnom solipsizmu jezika i time izolirane od svijeta stvarnosti i konkretne društvene odgovornosti. Navedena se teza propituje kroz analizu Tafurijevog kritičkog prisvajanja i specifičnog tumačenja tihe, tek naoko nijeme, arhitekture Adolfa Loosa, i negativne misli Loosovog suvremenika, književnika i kritičara kulture, Karla Krausa. Ispitujući položaj i ulogu arhitekture u apostrofiranim, različitim povijesnim momentima - sam početak 20. stoljeća, odnosno naša današnja, recentna situacija - te u različitim tumačenjima i prakticiranjima - prakticiranje arhitekture arhitekta i graditelja Loosa, odnosno njena interpretacija u Tafurijevim kritičarskim rukama - članak upućuje na specifične, oprečne statuse i značenja registriranih paradigmatičnih arhitektonskih tišina, gdje neke od njih zaista postaju odraz krajnje nemoći i praznine, dok druge manifestiraju glasno i rezolutno ustezanje od svakog nerazumljivog, varljivog ekspresivnog i ideološkog govora. The essay investigates Manfredo Tafuri's thesis of the absolute autonomy of architectural language, of silence and impotence of contemporary architecture, caught up in the unproductive solipsism of language and thus deprived of any contact with the sphere of reality and of actual social responsibility. The thesis is approached and analyzed through Tafuri's specific use and interpretation of the silent, just seemingly mute, degree-zero architecture of the Viennese Adolf Loos, and of the peculiar negative thought of Loos's contemporary, famous essayist and cultural critic, Karl Kraus. By investigating the position and the role of architecture in the addressed, different historical moments - the very beginning of the 20th century, and our recent situation, respectively -, as well as in different interpretations and ways of practicing - practicing of architecture in the hands of an architect and Baumeister on the one hand, and its interpretation in a critic's hands on the other -, the analysis points to specific, different meanings and natures of the addressed, paradigmatic architectural silences, where one might indeed be a sign of ultimate failure and loss, while the other manifests a loud and resolute abstention from every unintelligible and potentially deceptive, expressive, ideological speech.
