Sažetak
The effectiveness of community policy toward juvenile delinquents depends on the right choice of sanctions; therefore, the aim of this research was to emphasize some crucial points in the juvenile court decisions.
The goal of this research was to determine the differences in crime modalities and characteristics of the sentencing process between juvenile delinquent groups with different sentences, and to contribute to recognizing the importance of such elements in the sentencing process towards juvenile delinquents.
The result suggested that juvenile judges consider the appropriate criteria when deciding about non-institutional measures, not attaching a great importance to crime severeness and modalities. However, it seems that these elements have a great influence on the choice of institutional sanction, especially because of the insufficient use of various information sources (e.g. information about personal and family characteristics and other life conditions of juveniles).
