Sažetak
The numerical simulation of eddy currents caused by RF-fields in biological tissue when taking an MR-image is performed using the finite element method. Due to the complexity of the geometry of the human body and the highly heterogeneous material properties, the finite element method seems to be very suitable.Starting from the differential equations for the low frequency eddy current formulation the electrical conductivity has been modified to a complex quantity in order to take the displacement current density into account. This basically does not alter the low frequency formulation. The validation of the formulation described is shown on a cylindrically structured problem with highly inhomogeneous conducting and permittive material properties. Finally, the more realistic problem of a human head has been modelled and calculated in order to predict the occurrence and location of significant high values of the electrical power absorbed.
