Sažetak
Representative sample of three ethnic minority groups were surveyed (Federation of B&H) by means of internationally standardized (PRIAE-MEC) Project questionnaires: Hungariand, Czechs and Roma. The Czechs and the Roma are traditional historical minorities in Bosnia-Herzegovina whereas most of the Hungarians are economic migrants who came during the era of the former Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. Some 30% of the interviewees' families lived on a monthly income less than € 100, and among the Roma this proportion tose to 53%. Furthermore, the Roma had the worst housing conditions and by far the worst general health and quality of life. The prevalence of diseases and chronic conditions were found extremly high in all three groups, in particular the Roma. The Roma were far more likely to suffer from diabetes, high blood pressure/hypertension, heart disease, musculoskeletal disorders, hyperchilesterolaemia, headaches, gastric/intestinal disorders, metal problems, memory problems, kidney disorders, lunk/breathing problems, sleeping problems, and poor eyesight and hearing problems. The Hungarians were more likely suffer osteoporosis, arthritis/rheumatism, foot problems and dental problems than the other two groups. The Czechs have a higher incidence of strokes/paralysis than the Hungarians and the Roma. According to results local health professionals and managers/planners esimates, in Bosnia-Herzegovina very few if any specific health & social care measures had progressed thus far to the stage of effective implementation.
