Sažetak
Working in small, remote consultation office on the island Cres I become a part of medical perifery far from the security of hospital on the mainland. After five years of work on telemedical projects for the islands we introduced a new medical practice culture of communication between remote medical units and clinical hospital centres on the mainland. Pilot project "Virtual polyclinic-medical consulting system for the islands and remote areas" is a good example of possible new organisation models in health care. Our experience indicates that organisation of health care in remote areas depends not only on advanced technical solutions but on team work and medical professionals too.
