Sažetak
The aim of this study was to estimate the efficiency of treatment with the omeprazol in group of patients with chronic idiopathic laryngitis with LPR symptoms. 53 patients, mean age of 52 years, with chronic laryngitis and suspected LPR were recruited to this prospective clinical trial. They completed questionaire concerning symptoms and they underwent videostrobolaryngoscopy and 24-hour, dual-sensor pH probe testing. 41 patients with proved LPR started 8 weeks treatment with omeprazol. After the treatment they completed questionaire and they undrwent videostrobolaryngoscopy. The mean reflux symptom index was 14 (4-30) and reflux finding score 6 (2-17). Number of refluxes was 23.1 (3-95). Symptoms were ranking as follows: 19(45%) of patients had hoarsness, 17(42%) heartburns, 11(27%) globus pharyngeus, 6(15%) chronic throat clearing and 5(12%) chronic cough. 16(40%) patients had psudosulcus. All patients responded to the therapy. We found good clinical improvment in 18(44%) patients and excellent in 23(56%) patients and laryngeal signs improved in 30(72%, good) and 11(28%, excellent) after 8 weeks of omeprazol therapy. Treatment with omeprazol could be considered as successful therapy for the patinets with chronic laryngitis related to LPR.
