Sažetak
After the last EU enlargement, the tendency of new members is accession into the European Monetary Union. The aim of the paper is to assess the reached level of adjustments known as convergence criteria specified by Maastricht Treaty. Enlargement experiences confirm that institutional reforms are also important for economic performances of newcomers. Therefore additional indicators have been included which focus on institutional convergence, which is multidimensional and difficult to quantify. Each criterion comprises various complexities of policy measures and issues to be undertaken and the problem of their comparability is successfully solved using Analytic Hierarchy Process. The empirical results indicate the position of enlargement countries in the process of joining the Eurozone.
