Sažetak
Polymorphonuclear leukocytes from 6 healthy donors were incubated with physiological concentrations of opioid peptide Met-enkephalin ( 10^-10 and 10^-9 M) for 5 or 10 minutes. The levels of intracellular cAMP were measured in the presence or absence of 1-i-butyl-3-methyl-xanthyne (IMBX; 10^-3 M), an agent that prevents cAMP degradation by inhibiting the cAMP-degrading phosphodiesterase. The cAMP level was significantly increased after a 10 minute incubation with 10^-10 M Met-enkephalin in the presence of IBMX. The increase was not observed after a shorter incubation time (5 minutes) in spite of a higher concentration of Met-enkephalin and the presence of IBMX. The result confirms a previous observation (Martin-Kleiner I et al, Res Exp Med 192:145, 1992) and helps clarify some contradictory data reported in the literature.
