Sažetak
Are the corporations at transition economies serving the interests of society? Borrowing from Berle and Means, Kostyuk uses purposefully collected empirical data to examine many of the most controversial issues discussed in relation to corporate governance practices in Ukraine, especially those ones connected to the separation of ownership and control. This book provides a well-documented challenge to the monistic concept of corporate governance, popular in the US. Throughout the book the author brings out the implications of the corporate mechanisms for the sovereignty and autonomy of Ukraine, and for the practices of democracy, opening up an important debate on the concept of corporate citizenship. This book advances our knowledge of transition economies and incites to critical studies on the limits of corporate capitalism.
