Sažetak
Lack of competitiveness of Croatian economy is one of the most important problem in actual moment. Availability and access to modern technology is one factor of competitiveness that is crucial for development of new products, improving the existing production processes, reducing the production cost, achieving mass production and, as a result, increasing the export. Results of research performed on the pattern of Croatian firms indicate that strong measures for improving current position and competitiveness of Croatian economy should be used: high quality education process, to increase the number of implemented ISO standards, to simplify the registration of new firms, to support connection between the universities and firms, to award for innovation. That is the only way in which Croatia could become a knowledge - based economy, and it is precondition for further economic development.
