Sažetak
Cordon with short cutting is a new technology for Istrian Malvasia grown in Istria vine growing region. One of the most important parameters of cordon with short cutting used in viticulture is the optimal bud load definition. In order to investigate this important technology task, the experiment was set in a productive vineyard planted in 1993 in Persurici location near Porec. Plant distance is 2, 80 x 2, 50 meters between rows and between vines, with a particular system of two vines on one plant site. The bud loads are 20, 30, 35 and 40 buds/vine and two rootstocks – Kober 5BB and 420 A. Productive parameters (buds/vine, cluster/vine, yield/vine and single cluster weight) and quality parameters (soluble solids, titratable acidity and pH value) were evaluated for each experimental thesis. The investigation has been done during a period from year 1999 to 2004. The rootstock has significant influence on grape quality parameters without any significant influence on productive parameters. The bud load, in contrary to rootstock, has significant influence on productive parameters without any significant influence on quality parameters. The obtained results showed that rootstock Kober 5BB is better choice for Istrian Malvasia, as well as bud load of 30 to 35 buds/vine. The bud load of 20 buds/vine is not recommended for use because the yield was notably lower although the grape quality was not significantly different from other bud loads.
