Sažetak
The Botonega dam, at the peninsula of Istria at the Adritatic cost was built at the beginning of eightees in twentieth century. It was intended to control flood water waves from watercourses upstream of the dam and regulate downstream watercourses of the Botonega and Mirna Rivers. Due to every year demand water supply especcialy during summer, intention of the local authorities is to expand its function as a reservoire and supply water to the Butoniga Buzet Istrian Water – Supply System. The dam is constructed of filled and compacted earth material so as to have a central clay core. Settlements of the ground and dam structure were recorded, but only two years after the completion of the dam construction. In order to reconstruct previous consolidation process and to predict future ones, a numerical model was worked out. The sizes of the model and properties of materials were determined based on the design and construction documents, the results of site and laboratory investigations. As for stress-strain behaviour of the materials, at the time when the dam was designed, researchers were not focused on determining elastoplastic properties of the materials because then no appropriate computer programmes (software) were available. Hence, to improve numerical modelling and achieve realistic picture of the behaviour of the dam, further researches were carried out aimed at determining elastoplastic and hydraulic properties of the materials of the ground and dam. In the paper, analyses of settlements and stability analyses are presented. Settlement values obtained by computing and geodetic monitoring correspond well. Stability analyses proved that the Botonega dam will be able to satisfy the criteria for its future use as a multi purpose construction.
