The paper discusses the tasks (achievements) and prospects of adult education in Croatia. Due to the fact That Croatia has a long tradition of andragogy, the paper contains a short analysis of Croatian contribution to the European theory and practice of andragogy. The process of creating conditions favourable for Croatia's approaching the western democratic societies is described with particular emphasis on adult education development.
