Sažetak
The inability to adapt to the significant changes in the functioning of higher education institutions, that is, adjusting to the new: a) students' needs, b) sources of funding, c) foreign/domestic competition and d) modern teaching programmes, can significantly jeopardize the survival and the development of these institutions. The authors analyse the example of the Graduate School of Economics & Business of the University of Zagreb, Croatia as a possible positive benchmark in viewing strategic alliances as important "catalysts" for the success of similar higher education and research institutions in CEE.
