Sažetak
Nautical tourism has recently been one of the perspective segments in Croatia. Modern nautical tourism in Croatia began in the sixties of the last century, and the foundation of the Adriatic Croatia International Club – ACI in 1983 greatly contributed to the development of the nautical-tourist offer. Croatia is situated on the threshold of the most developed European countries. Therefore, when we talk about demand that has increased in the last several years, economic sustainability of the nautical tourism is not in question. The greatest problem is ecological sustainability and human beings as polluters, while in nautical tourism there are other polluters such as: rubbish, sanitary wastewaters and chemical toilets, underwater paints, oil and grease. However, all of these can almost be controlled presuming the fact that Croatia has adequate modern technologies. On the other hand, people should be educated to treat nature in the best possible way. Disadvantages that follow nautical tourism and endanger nature and ambiance are objects that disturb the appearance of bays, as well as the noise of the motorboats that harm sea life. Local population, whose boats uncontrollably sail and anchor in the places that are not intended for anchorage, also make harm to the environment. As Dubrovnik has recently been an interesting destination to the nautical guests, all of these problems should be solved. In order to do so, strategy for the sustainable development of the nautical tourism made for the Dubrovnik area only, is necessary.
