Sažetak
The objective of this study was to determine performance of commonly grown maize hybrids in monoculture and four rotation systems under intensive production technology. A crop rotation study was established on the heavy, poorly drained vertic amphygley at Oborovo near Zagreb in 1991. Five cropping treatments, maize monoculture, and four rotations with different previous crops to maize as follows, soybean-maize, w. wheat-maize, w. wheat-red clover-maize and soybean-w. wheat-oil rape-maize were chosen for this investigation. Each crop of every rotation was grown in every year. Identical complete randomized experiments, replicated five times with 12 maize hybrids on maize plots were carried out for three years, 1994 to 1996. In intensive maize production best yielding hybrids in high yielding (8 to 10 t/ha) cropping system environments were also good choices in lower yielding (5 to 6 t/ha) monoculture environment.
