Sažetak
Croatian experience in the application of the Observational Method in geotechnical design and construction is presented through several case histories. Presented case histories included a motorway tunnel and several large excavations, mainly in weathered rock and hard soils. A more conservative initial design is proposed as opposed to the design based on most probable ground conditions, as usually advocated.

Simpozij je organiziran pod pokroviteljstvom Francuskog geotehničkog društva (Comite Fracais de Mecanique des Sols, CFMS) i La Federation Nationale des Travaux Publics (FNTP). U okviru simpozija održan je i sastanak Tehničkog odbora 37 (TC 37) Međunarodnog društva za mehaniku tla i geotehničko inženjerstvo (ISSMGE) kojem su autori prezentacije predsjednik i tajnik.
