Sažetak
Respiratory symptoms and skin reactivity to Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus (DP), Lepidoglyphus destructor (LD) and Tyrophagus putrescentiae (TP) were studied in a random sample of 335 subjects, 163 men (37.5 9.8 yrs ; smokers 110/163=67.5%) and 172 women (36.6 8.8 yrs, smokers 106/172=61.6%). Upper airwyay symptoms (UAS) and lower airway symptoms (LAS) were collected by standardized questionnaire. Prick test (PT) with ALK_Epipharm allergens to DP, LD and TP was performed by standard method. An urtica D+d/2 3 mm and greater was considered a positive skin reaction (PT+). Significantly higher prevalence of PT+ was found in men than in women to DP (26.9%:12.2% ; P<0, 01), to LD (33.1%:19.2% ; P<0, 005) and not to TP (43.6%:34.3% ; n.s.). In DP PT+ men there were 32/44=72.7% LD PT+ subjects and 34/44=77.3% TP PT+ subjects. In DP PT+ women there was 11/21= 52.4% LD PT+ subjects and 10/21=47.6% TP PT+ subjects. Significantly higher mean skin reactivity was found in men than in women only to TP (5.13ą2.04:4.25ą1.13 ; P<0, 01). In PT+men there were 43/89=48.3% and in PT+ women 33/67=49.3% subjects with respiratory symptoms. In DP PT+ subjects there was higher prevalence of UAS than in LD and TP PT+ subjects (33.9%:18.7% ; P<0, 05). Our results show that although the prevalence of PT+ to LD and TP is much higher than to the DP, the connection to UAS is significantly better in DP PT+ subjects than in LD na TP PT+ subjects. This finding indicates that LD and TP PT+ reactions are less specific and need careful clinical interpretation.
