Sažetak
Croatian Adriatic coastal ferry service requires urgent improvement in quality, speed and frequency of service. Catamaran ferries have demonstrated efficiency in this kind of service. Concept design of catamaran ferries that would be tailored for the task should use modern multi-attribute optimization procedure. A new parametric catamaran model is developed based on previous experience with models of fast monohulls. A multi-attribute design procedure is applied to the task of concept design of catamaran ferry. Graphical presentations of the multi-dimensional design space offer much better insight into the performance trade-offs than it is possible by a simple mono-criteria approach. The results of the multi-attribute concept design optimization are compared to the existing vessel based on the same set of design requirements. Alternative Pareto-optimal choices are discussed.
