Sažetak
Several authors have demonstrated that metaphor and blending are conceptual operations that can be fruitfully applied to the study of a number of aspects of culture that are not primarily linguistic. The paper takes this idea further by proposing additional cognitive tools that can be used to better understand additional domains of cultural experience. Such an enterprise asks us to explore the issue of what it would involve to have a coherent theory of culture from a cognitive linguistic perspective. We might regard such a theory a “ cognitive semiotics of culture.” The building of a theory along these lines would hopefully lead to some unification within cognitive linguistics and would at the same time expand its scope of application.
