Sažetak
The paper stresses that cognitive linguistic studies should not be based only on intuitions but also on empirical evidenc. The authors provide an overview of of the advances made in this direction over the last few years, pointing out that both the introspectie and the inductive methods are necessary, The former is shown to be of fundamental importance in the analysis ofmetonymy, the latter being particularly useful in the search for regularities in the case of metaphoric mappings.
