Sažetak
Unilateral facial paresis (Bell palsy) developed in a 28-year-old patient 6 days after the onset of pneumonia caused ba Coxiella burnetii. The findings from a CT scan of the brain and examination of cerebrospinal fluid were normal. Results from electrophysiologic testing revealed a suprastapedial lesion. C. burnetii infection was confirmed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The patient was treated with azithromycin for 3 days, then with doxycycline for 10 days. The pneumonic infiltrate disappeared, and the Bell palsy resolved within a month. Here we present the first reported case of Bell palsy associated with Q fever.
