Sažetak
As one of the basic postulates of his theory, Holland states that people seek work environments closely matching their personal vocational interest profile. In congruent environment person can best develop and grow, is best adjusted and is maximally efficient in work tasks. It is widely believed that congruence between one’ s interests and work environment is positively associated with his/her satisfaction with vocational choice, and stability and success in work. However, empirical findings on congruence hypothesis are equivocal. The aim of this study is to investigate the degree of interest-study congruence in Croatian student sample and to explore whether the greater congruence indicates better fulfillment with chosen university educational program. Croatian version of Tracey's PGI as a measure of 6 Holland's RIASEC types and authors' measure of study satisfaction were administered to a sample of Croatian students enrolled in different university educational programs (N=550). Interest-study congruence, calculated as Iachan index, was related to study satisfaction. If the Holland's congruence hypothesis is to be approved, people with more congruent interest-study profile would be more satisfied with chosen university program.
