Annual variability of mesozooplankton assemblages in Mali Ston Bay (southern Adriatic) Background and purpose: Relatively few research works have dealt with the mesozooplankton population density distribution in the shallow waters, primarily due to difficulties encountered with methods of sampling. Material and methods: Eleven daytime samples were taken from March 1989 through July 1990 at Usko station (14-m depth) in Mali Ston Bay. Samples were taken at 2-m intervals from the surface to the bottom with a 125 ľm mesh using the "Adriatic" sampler type of 250 l volume. Results and conclusions: Results indicated the existence of differences in density values between the layer intervals of 2 meters only.
