Sažetak
This paper stresses the commodity character of the nineteenth century optical technology that suppresses activity of the sensorium of the observing subjectivity. An issue of an illusion of the sight, must be replaced with the theoretically and historically more appropriate problematic of a reification of the visual sensation. Beside various kinds of a technical and institutional ways for producing sights, seeing depends on the fetishistic blindness: invisibility of the genuinely visible objects, and conversely, visibility of the genuinely invisible phenomena. Therefore, physiological-subjective vision that is described in the work of Jonathan Crary must be completed with a concept of vision that is implied in the Marx's analysis of an ideology, political representation, and fetishistic character of the commodity.
