Sažetak
A 40-year-old male psychiatric patient presented with 2 months history of epigastric pain, severe dysphagia and loss of weight. On examination, local epigastric tenderness was noted. Upper GI barium contrast radiography revealed tubular mass in the stomach. EGD confirmed this finding. Straight distal transparent hood was attached to the distal end of an endoscope. The tip of the foreign body was captured with a grasping forceps and was placed within the groove of the rim of the hood to prevent potential mucosa damage . Foreign body was then removed from stomach and oesophagus without difficulty. There were no procedure related complications, and patient became asymptomatic. The foreign body was 14 cm long and 1 cm in diameter plastic pen, of which patient had no knowledge of swallowing. The patient was referred to psychiatric department for further treatment.
