Sažetak
The role of interdisciplinary approach in educational scientific fields has been increasing, as a refelection of interrelationships in all fields of economic and social life. Educational economics plays an important role in the system of educational sciences. Since the start or reasearch, educational economics has reached a critical amount of specializations in economics. Researc is directed towards optimal relationship of inputs - various forms of fiscal and other expenditure - and outputs - acceptable educational output, directed towards goals of economic and social development. Educational economists have, until now, investigated various fields of educational economics and complementary scientific fields which see education as a source of growth: the human capital theory, efficiency and quality in the financing of education, education and technological progress. Future research will be confronted with special tasks, such as unemployment and problems of long-term planing of the rate and structure of employment. In this respect, Croatian scientists are expected to put a lot of effort into dealing with problems initiated by the dynamic changes in transition countries. If undergraduate and postgradueate students in Croatia realize the value of their decision to educate themselves, education will reach its basic goals.
