Sažetak
This paper depicts some aspects of Church-State relations in Croatia. It shows how particular historical circumstances allowed the Catholic Church to seize the role of a dominant religious actor and become important social force in society. This might become counterproductive in terms of the regulation of religious field and the protection of human rights in the civil society. The paper starts with some theoretical considerations about the framework of the Church-State relationship, and then moves to a few important aspects of the religious situation in Croatia both before and after the social transformation. Finally, the legal documents that shape the position of religious communities in Croatia and some issues that arise due to the dominance of the Catholic Church are explained.
