Sažetak
Computer infrastructure represented in the Croatian educational system is rather developed nowadays. It would be necessary to develop an integral information system (IIS) within the competent Ministry (Ministry of Science, Education and Sports) for the purpose of more efficient and high-quality management of the educational process itself as well as process control. In this paper by the proposed database “ Students’ achievements in high school and thereafter” we describe a possible model of data acquisition, processing and display of results. The data in question (grades and absence from classes – as the output of the educational system) are processed in schools at the end of each semester (analysis of students’ achievements after each semester), but they disappear with time. By using a web-application homeroom teachers would be able to feed the data on students’ achievements into the IIS in just 2-3 days for more than 500 schools in Croatia, and in that way “ time series” of data on achievements would be created. Such database would contribute to better management in education. To scientists dealing with this field of research it would offer “ easily attainable and relevant data” for their research that would improve the system itself.
