Sažetak
In this paper, a design optimization method based on the recursive quadratic programming with the simple automatic scaling technique is presented. Resulting computer code was tested against a set of hard-to-solve real-life engineering design optimization problems. Performed numerical tests showed that the proposed scaling technique could significantly increase the solution efficiency on some hard-to-solve test problems. However, it was also shown that it could deteriorate performance in some other cases. Therefore, it seems to be reasonable to apply it in the cases when initial difference in scale among the design variables exceeds some predefined value or in the cases when the ordinary process fails to find the solution efficiently.
