Sažetak
The paper presents and analyses the object-oriented exception handling methods and mechanisms, as well as their realization and use in script languages and web-application development platforms. Technologies (tools) for the development of web applications have progressed in recent years from a few rather simple script languages to a dozen of powerful application development platforms. These platforms work with many languages which are used for the development of large scale information systems the work of which is based on (or connected with) the use of web servers and browsers. The increasing complexity of web applications has accelerated the development of object-oriented constructs and features in script languages. The object-oriented methods and style of exception handling have been introduced in the ASP.NET system since 2001. The need for the object-oriented methods of exceptions (errors) handling has been recognized early also in the language PHP ; these elements were finally developed and they have been included in the version PHP5 in 2004. In this paper we present and analyze the methods and mechanisms of the exception handling in the PHP system, and we give a comparison of these methods and mechanisms with the functionally equivalent elements and features in the ASP.NET system
