Sažetak
Along with the trend of introduction of common octopus (Octopus vulgaris) in rearing systems in Mediterranean by fattening or experimental paralarval production, it was contracted a concern regarding emergence of its diseases in the rearing conditions. The most devastating infection for reared octopus stock was shown to be a coccidian parasite Aggregata sp. (Apicomplexa: Aggregatidae), causing weigh loss, excitations and changes in behavior and disseminated miliar subcutaneous parasite cysts. In the aquaculture facility of Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries, during the experimental fattening of common octopus, 7% mortalities in course of 8 months were attributed to infection of Aggregata sp. Even Aggregatidae’ detailed life cycle is not elucidated completely, it is known that this heteroxenous coccidian uses crustaceans for the merogony, which comprise 30% of cephalopod’ rearing diet. For the moment, only adequate zooprofilactic measures can unable the emergence of the infection in rearing system. The avoidance of introduction of adult specimens in the rearing system would be the crucial zooprofilactic measure, along with the catch of only juvenile cephalopods that did not contract the coccidian through food web in natural environment, thus are not able to introduce the infection in the rearing system. The second measure would consist of avoidance of crustacean in the rearing diet.
