Sažetak
In the Croatian flora the genus Ophioglossum is represented by two species, Ophioglossum lusitanicum L. and Ophioglossum vulgatum L. The Eurasian-North American species Ophioglossum vulgatum L. is widely spread throughout Europe, except in the extreme north. Particularly interesting localities to us are in the southern parts of Croatia, which together with those in southern Italy and Slovenia make the southern border of the range of this species. The populations from Croatian coast correspond mostly to the northern part of the Adriatic Sea, particularly the Istrian peninsula. The distribution of the Ophioglossum vulgatum L. in Istria was mapped using the MTB fields of the Central European grid for flora mapping. Data on Adder's tongue distribution were collected from three sources: field observations, literature and herbarium collections. Field observations were conducted between 2000 and 2002 and they provided new, as yet unpublished localities. The survey of the geographical spread of the fern Ophioglossum vulgatum L. in Istria indicated 20 localities in total, 7 among which were recorded for the first time. Two areas of distribution of this species can be distinguished: the larger one in the northern area of peninsula and the smaller one in the south-western area. The localities in the northern area of Istria are connected to those in Slovenia and Italy and through them with the rest of the European populations.
