Sažetak
The aim of the study was the evaluation of clinical outcome in hyperthyroid patients (pts) treated using a 131-iodine. The study includes 101 pts with Grave-s hyperthyroidism, 13 males and 88 females, ages ranged from 28 to 83 (mean 49, 9).Before radioiodine therapy they were treated with antithyroid drugs.Median follow-up period was 24 months (range 12-80 months).Hormnonal Thyroid status were reviewed at 3, 6, and 12 months (37 pts were reviewed also after 18 months). In this study 71 pts (70, 3%) out of 101 required a single therapeutic dose, 23(22, 8%)received one additional dose, and 7 (6, 9%) were treated with third dose of 131-I.Three months after 131-I administration 58 (57, 4%)pts responded to the iodine therapy:34(33, 6%)were euthyroid and 24 (23, 8%)were hypothyroid.Six months after the initial 131-I treatment successful outcome was documented in 61 (60, 4%)pts and after one year in 75 (74, 3%)pts:29 were euthyroid and 46 were hypothyroid.Such cure rate was achieved with a single dose in 62 pts and 13 pts needed additional doses. One year after the initial treatment there were still 26 hyperthyroid patients and after 18 months 19 pts. The second 131-I aplication was performed after a median of 8 months(range 4-28) and the third after a medain of 23 months (range 12-40) Conclusion:In hyperthyroid patients the radioiodine therapy can be used with high efficiency, with doses od 131-I adjusted to thyroid gland weight and 131-uptake.
