Sažetak
The aim of this paper is to show that traditional figures of speech (metaphor, metonymy, synecdoche) play an important role in everyday language. Moreover, they are used in complex scientific, political and social issues of the world. In this paper, special emphasis will be put on the use of metonymies in English and Croatian journalese.
