Sažetak
Delineation of homogeneous areas of groundwater could be a valuable tool to assist the characterisation process within the framework of the requirements of the Water Framework Directive. The development of conceptual model of the groundwater flow and a model for the chemical system could be used as the basis for understanding and documenting the groundwater body delineation and characterisation, and to aid decision-making. The establishment of threshold values for each of the naturally occurring pollutants that characterise bodies of groundwater as being at risk requires consideration of the background concentrations for these pollutants. It is necessary to apply methods that take into account the natural variability of the chemical composition. The assessment procedure for the identification of trends, based on arithmetic mean values of the mean values of the individual monitoring points, could be supplemented by more accurate and scientifically improved methods. The use of non-parametric statistics may be valuable tool in studying of distribution of statistical trends for the whole groundwater body or group of bodies
