Sažetak
The purpose of this research is to develop novel osteoinductive coatings for bone and tooth implants. One possible approach is the deposition of composite materials, consisting of polyelectrolyte (PE) multilayers (ML) and calcium phosphate, upon different solid substrates. Such biocompatible coatings should be able to trigger cell response and accelerate osteointegration. In this work we report on the adsorption of amorphous calcium phosphate (ACP) and it’ s “ in situ” phase transformation into octacalcium phosphate (OCP) and/or calcium deficient apatites (DA) on multilayers consisting of alternating layers of poly-l-lysine (PLL) and poly-l-glutamic acid (PGA). The obtained results point to a novel method for the preparation of organic-inorganic nanocomposite coatings for biomedical application. Such coatings consist of i PE multilayers alternating with j layers of different calcium phosphates. ACP and/or OCP as the inorganic component could be preferable to HA because, due to the higher solubility of these compounds, exchange of the synthetic calcium phosphate with bone mineral could be facilitated.
