Sažetak
The application of ultrasound in the bleaching bath was studied for improving the quality of flax fibers by fiber bundle size reduction in one step. Five flax cultivars provided the fiber samples used. Experiments were conducted at various temperatures and with and without ultrasound. Treatment efficiency was determined by measuring the loss of mass from the technical fiber, the degree of fiber bundle size reduction, and changes in color, lightness, and luster. Improvements were seen in most of these areas, with no effect on the whiteness degree and reduced bleaching effectiveness due to ultrasound treatment.
