Sažetak
Two authors of this paper have shown that by using the frequency-response masking (FRM) technique for designing finite-impulse response (FIR) filters building a two-channel filterbank (FB) with rational sampling factors, the implementation complexity can be reduced compared with the use of direct-form filters for this purpose. In this paper, for designing FBs, a modified version of the FRM technique proposed by Lim and Yang for designing interpolation (decimation) filters is utilized. Using such filters enables one to construct a FB in such a manner that all filters are evaluated at the FB’ s lowest sampling rates, that is, at the subband sampling rates, thereby further decreasing the FB implementation complexity. The benefits of the proposed approach compared to other existing techniques are illustrated by means of examples.
