Sažetak
GP’ s office can be recognized as a gate keeper in controlling the costs in health care system. Electronic medical record (EMR) consists all the relevant information on patient health status, diagnostic procedures and therapy. There are also information on sick leave, referrals, and findings. Information in EMR can be used not only for solving the patient problems but also as a basis for learning, knowledge discovery, and keeping quality of care. EMR is a basis of the GP information system, and both patient and GP should be satisfied with it. Due to variety of approaches in designing the GP office information system, different implementation even in the same health care system (country), there is a need for evaluation of such systems. There are a lot of criteria used in evaluation studies. Based on the Inventory of evaluation studies in medical informatics 1982-2002 there was 55 evaluation studies on GP office information systems. The leading criterion was the Appropriateness of patient care (23 of 55, or 41.8%). The second criterion was the Cost of patient care (8 of 55, or 14.5%) and Quality of documented and processed information with the same frequency. User satisfaction, Patient satisfaction with patient care, and Efficiency of patient care with 6 of 55 have the third rank. Other criteria are just sporadic. Analysing the most frequently used criterion (Appropriateness of patient care), and separating the whole period into three parts, any trend in a number of evaluation studies can not be recognized.
