Sažetak
Formal mathematical models are understandable to mathematicians but complicated for non-mathematicians. The interpretation of results is important for economists but without meaning for mathematicians. Solving a mathematical model manually is not very agreeable and sometime, when working with many variables mostly tedious. Financial functions perform common business calculations, such as determining the payment for a loan, the future value or net present value of an investment, and the values of bonds or coupons. Modern spreadsheets include more than 300 functions. Even those who use spreadsheets for daily work don’ t know how to use them all. Functions are predefined formulas that perform calculations by using specific values, called arguments, in a particular order, or structure. Methodical approach may be in two ways: defining financial functions as spreadsheets' functions or putting them in contents of economics analysis. The aim of this paper is to research how to introduce some of financial functions to students of economy and to encourage them to explore other ones by applying spreadsheets.
