Sažetak
Voice over IP is probably the fastest growing technology in IP-based networks. On the other hand, PSTN/ISDN is the most spread and used network in the last several decades. The problem of efficiently connecting VoIP and PSTN networks arises naturally. In this work, we present a SIP-ISDN Gateway used to connect SIP based networks with the public ISDN network. To the SIP network, the gateway is seen as a User Agent hosting many different users, and to the ISDN as a terminating telephone switch. This enables completely transparent communication across the border of two networks. The implementation of the gateway is based on GNU/Linux operating system and programming language Java. The interface to the ISDN network is based on a Common ISDN API (CAPI) - programming interface that enables applications to handle ISDN messages based on Q.931 signaling protocol. The interface to the SIP network is based on publicly available NIST SIP Protocol Stack. For RTP streaming between the gateway and users in SIP network, Java Media Framework's RTP Manager is used.
