Sažetak
The objective of this short scientific research is correlating two (or three) subjects in order to facilitate the acquiring of professional teaching material and its application for the specific education processes of the Croatian College of Business and Business Administration "Baltazar Adam Krčelić", from Zaprešić. The research has been conceived to substantiate through empirical statistical results the necessity of linking two (or three) subjects - Business English with Basic or Professional (Business) Informatics - Exercise (in English) in order to keep the knowledge at the practical and not only at the theoretical level in the long run. The need arose in actual teaching situations of both (or three) subjects. It was noticed that insufficient knowledge of English is a restraining factor in acquiring permanent knowledge of basic and professional computer use ; searching the Internet, sending e-mails and text processing (for example: MS Office - English version). Simultaneously, in Business English classes problems were noticed in coping with business communication assignments due to inadequate knowledge of informatics and a lack of logical connection with the subject-matter of Basic or Professional (Business) Informatics - Exercise (composing usual and professional business documents, sending e-mail, writing a CV, etc.). With the aim of improving class quality and achieving more productive knowledge of both (or three) subjects, this research has been conceived. It encourages the logical connecting of teaching units and is going to result in lasting knowledge of higher quality while at the same time it reduces the factor of theoretical learning with no practice. Therefore, a number of tasks have been composed with the aim of proving the need for such projects, especially in institutions of professional higher education oriented towards practical application of the acquired knowledge. Statistical results tend to confirm the hypothesis: "the knowledge of English improves the existing knowledge and facilitates acquiring new contents at the basic or professional computer use level, whereas the practical knowledge of basic or professional informatics facilitates learning Business English".
