Sažetak
Morphological determination of sex in ancient human skeletal remains is generally accepted as an efficient and precise diagnostic method for adult individuals. However, whether subadult skeletal remains exhibit sexual dimorphism has been the subject of considerable debate. Since 1876, when Fehling reported on sexually distinctive features of the fetal and neonatal pelvis, many investigators have writen about sexual dimorphism in children. Like in the adults, pelvis is considered one of the most highly sex diagnostic skeletal regions in subadults. The inestigation is based on the subadult skeletons from medieval cemetery of Stara Torina (northern Serbia). We selected subadult skeletons with complete or nearly complete ilia before the age of fusion of the tripartite acetabular juction and evaluated the level of sex separation using morphological trait. The results suggest that there is significant sexual dimorphism in morphological characteristic of the subadult ilia.
