Sažetak
Although one might expect that all neuroleptics, since they block dopamine receptors, increase the synthesis of dopamine and the firing rate of dopaminergic neurons, would cause a decrease in the activity of the striatonigral GABAergic pathway, this effect was found only after low doses of haloperidol. No obvious correlation between the apparent changes in GABA synthesis and the known effects of neuroleptics either on dopamine receptors or on the other neurotransmitter systems was observed.
